The Munro Site
Project Overview
In 2014, the City of Melbourne made a strategic purchase of a large parcel of properties, bordered by Queen, Therry, Elizabeth and Franklin Streets, commonly known as the Munro Site (the Site). The Site sits within the Queen Victoria Market Precinct and represents an important consideration in the program of precinct renewal announced by Council in late 2013.
The Project will entail a $500 million mixed-use commercial and residential development on the Site that complements the Queen Victoria Market and further enhances the potential of the precinct. In summary the completed project includes:
- Residential apartments
- Hotel
- Commercial office
- Fine grained retail, specialty shops, cafes and other hospitality services that add to the Queen Victoria Market Precinct’s retail offer.
- A major customer car park of 720 spaces to replace the existing at-grade Queen Victoria Market car park.
- An integrated family and children’s centre including a 120 place childcare.
- A integrated function space ‘City Room'
- Artist Studios
- 56 Affordable housing units
